BRUNELLO!!! We here at Last Bottle get straight up DELIRIOUS about Brunello (uh, yeah… when it's priced as we did it today?). Croce di Mezzo is BACK! With a vengeance that would even give Caesar pause – 56% OFF!!
That's right. We came, we saw, and we conquered! From the magical rolling hill paradise called Montalcino…all tucked up next to two of the greatest Brunello properties of all time – Bondi Santi and Fattoria Barbi (nowhere near those prices, don’t worry… we’re talking roughly 1/10th the price of Bondi Santi here!). But SO, SO GOOD!
Bask in the Tuscan glow of cranberry tea, sun-dried hay, and baked clay earth. Plus strawberries, dried cherries, rose petals, blood orange, sage, clove, cinnamon, balsamic, saddle leather…it… Just. Keeps. Going! Silky texture, unbelievable perfume, savory, meaty, mouthwatering stuff! Make a lasagna bolognese STAT!
Croce di Mezzo is a family-run “agriturismo” (def worth a stay or visit if you are heading to Tuscany/Montalcino…), and while production is small, the wines are gloriously classic, a touch old-school, and outrageously good for the money, even at the original price of $80. At $35?!?! This is an interrobang to end all interrobangs!!! Inconceivable! Best to move quickly considering our silly price, as we got as much as they could sell us, yet sadly, it will not be enough. While it lasts…!
